Sermon by Pastor George Tynes: Do The Right Thing!
Scripture: Psalms 23: 3
Sermon Summary :
We should do what is right because we bear the name of God. Believers in Jesus Christ were first called Christians at Antioch (Acts 11:26) The character of God and the name of God go hand in hand. It is important that we don't take lightly the priviledge that has been given to us.
Outline:
1. Adoption - we have been adopted into the family of God. God gives us His name. This is a legally binding contract. Romans 8: 12-17 "the Spirit of Adoption" God gives us permission to use his name in the earth. I call this, "power in the earth". Matt 16: 19
2. Indwelling - the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. Jn 14:20; Eph 5:18; Acts 2:4 Through the process of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit God gives us "power over ourselves".
We should do the right things because we bear the name of God. God is Holy and Righteous. As children of God we to should live holy and blameless in this world. (Col 1:22)

Sermon by Pastor George R. Tynes: Drop It Like It's Hot!
Scripture: Hebrews 12: 1-13
Date: July 12, 2009
Summary:
In the text we are informed that there is a crowd of witnesses that are cheering us on. They are the saints that have gone on before us. From the heavenly balcony they are watching us and praying that we fulfill our call and mission. In light of this there are three things that we must do.
1. Let us lay aside every weight and sin that hinders us.
2. Let us run our race with patience or perserverance.
3. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
Whatever it is in our lives that is preventing us from running the race, we must "Drop It Like It's Hot!"

Sermon Summary by Pastor Tynes: Carpe Diem
Scripture: St. John 5: 1-14
Summary:
For many life is a series of missed opportunities, while others seem to always be in the right place at the right time. They are labeled lucky! Is life a game of chance, or is it a matter of choice. Jesus puts to bed this issue by asking this question, "Do you want to be made whole?"
This man waited for 38 years for a chance at being healed, and Jesus in one day offers him a choice. I don't know what you've have been waiting for, but Jesus is offering you a choice today. Do you want to be made whole? If the answer is yes, rise, take up your bed and walk!
Carpe Diem is the latin for take advantage of the opportunity or moment. This word literal means cease the moment, day, or opportunity. You have this moment to get up out of your bondage, depression, and disease in Jesus name. Rise now in Jesus name! I pray that you took the opportunity to rise up out of your situation and circumstance today.
If you are not saved, take this moment to give your life to Jesus who died on the cross and rose from the dead with all power in his hands. Say this prayer, "Lord Jesus I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world who died for my sins. Forgive me of my sins and become my Savior and Lord. In Jesus name I pray Amen."
