Sermon by Pastor George R. Tynes: Believe God!
Scripture: Rom 4:3
Summary:
This was a Father's Day sermon. Abraham is the father of the "Faith". The greatest legacy that we can pass on to our children is to believe God. Abraham's lasting legacy will be our example of faith in daily living.
There were three pivotal points in Abraham's life that challenged his faith in God. In Genesis chapter 12 was his call to leave Ur (his home town) , his people, and his father's house. In Genesis chapter 14 he was challenged to a war with King Kedorlaomer who had defeated the Kings of Sodom and Gomorrah and had taken his nephew Lot and the inhabitants of those cities captive. In Genesis chapter 15 he was challenged to believe that he would give birth to a child in his old age. In Genesis chapter 22 he was challenged to sacrifice Issac on the altar as proof of his faith in God. Abraham's report came back with high honors. In every situation Abraham believed God.
In life we are challenged everyday to believe in God, his Word, his promises, his faithfulness and power. Our prayer is that you will respond to your life challanges by believing God. Remember that the trials in your life are an opportunity to trust God and take him at his Word. God 100% of the time responds to our faith in him. Heb 11:1,6 tell us what faith is (living with divine expectations or waiting on a move of God) and how faith pleases or moves God into action. If you want to see God move on your behalf exercise your faith in him. His promise to you is that he will never leave you or forsake you. Believe God!
